What is a Direct Debit?

A Direct Debit is a way you can pay for something you buy from a company or an organisation.

A Direct Debit is usually used to pay for something in regular payments like monthly bills, subscriptions or loans.

When you set up a Direct Debit with a company or organisation, the regular payments you need to make are automatically taken from your bank account on a set date. This means you don't need to worry about remembering to make the regular payments yourself.

What is the difference between a Standing Order and a Direct Debit?

The advantage of a Direct Debit is that it is more flexible than a Standing Order.

A Standing Order is a fixed amount of money that you pay regularly whereas a Direct Debit allows you to variable amounts.

What is the benefit of a Direct Debit guarantee?

The Direct Debit Guarantee gives you piece of mind as it allows you to claim back money if some is taken out of your bank account by mistake.
